Lorre Antoine: 30 years

Senior Administrative Assistant II
Cecil H. and Ida Green Center for Reproductive Biology Sciences
First ½û·¬¶¯Âþ job: While I’ve only been at UT Southwestern since August, I’ve actually been part of the UT System for 30 years. During that time, I worked in the Dean’s Office of the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at UT Dallas, where I gained valuable experience in administrative skills working in PeopleSoft and in guest relations. That background really paved the way for my transition here. I’m very excited to be at ½û·¬¶¯Âþ and contribute to the great work being done here.
Best part about my job: What I like best about my job is working with such a kind and helpful team. Everyone cares about getting the work done and building up the Center, which means they are willing to help when someone needs a hand.
How co-workers describe me: Caring, genuine, empathetic, and generous. I like to fill a need. My genuineness comes through in the vulnerability that I show.
Best ½û·¬¶¯Âþ memory: My best memory so far involves the kindness and compassion shown by people who don’t know me. Managing a seminar series involves escorting guests to their meetings. Although I mainly work on South Campus, I frequently make trips to North Campus to escort guests. I’ve been lost several times, but each time, someone has been willing to escort me back to familiar territory, living out ½û·¬¶¯Âþ’s core values regularly.
My proudest ½û·¬¶¯Âþ accomplishment: I’m most proud of learning to manage the Director’s calendar. He is a very busy man, and learning to manage the calendar of someone at that level has been a huge step for me.
I’m really good at: Active listening. Giving people a voice to feel seen and heard is very important. It lets them know they belong and unlocks creativity.
Hobbies: The passion that I have outside of work is volunteering as co-facilitator for a women’s sexual abuse support group. I share with group members what I have learned and encourage them to see beyond their past. I love serving the ladies.
Surprising fact: I’ve been on six mission trips to Papua, New Guinea, three of which I led. Because I am more of an introvert, people would not expect me to make a good leader. But introverts tend to be great listeners and thoughtful decision-makers.
